ASSAM
Workshops on vermitechnology are regularly held at Cachar under the expert supervision of Dr. Trishit Chakraborty, Agronomist, Institute of Agriculture, Sriniketan, Visva Bharati.

ANDHRA PRADESH
Seminars on Adolescent Health are regularly organized by M/S CANDLE at the district of Cuudpah, A.P.


BIHAR
At Begusarai – In collaboration with the Rashtriya Jana Kalyan Samiti, Begusarai, engaged in social development of tribals in Health and Education sector, women are regularly trained on RCH programmes


JHARKHAND
At Begusarai – In collaboration with the Rashtriya Jana Kalyan Samiti, Begusarai, engaged in social development of tribals in Health and Education sector, women are regularly trained on RCH programmes.

1. At district Dumka:-
At Kumirdaha under the Raniswar Block, the Centre is functioning with numerous activities like demonstration of ISI versus Non ISI marked life Irrigation pumping system, a Cultural Centre and various SHG related programmes.

At Maslia Block RCH activities are carried out. The Health Volunteers are trained at the RCH activity and are cooperating with the District Health Administration in improving the “Couple Protection Rate” and in reducing the IMR and MMR.

DOTS Training Programme at the Maslia Block is running smoothly.

2. At district Jamtara:-
a. DOTS Training Programme at Narayanpur Block is running satisfactorily.

Infrastructural support is given to this organization and manpower is trained to gear up the health related programme.


MADHYA PRADESH

At district Chindwarak
a. The Sauser Branch of Chindwara district participates regularly in the National Integration Camp held at Amravati, Maharashtra.

b. Workshops are organized to build up awareness campaign among the village women to reduce the IMR & MMR from time to time.


MAHARASHTRA
At Nagpur – The Secretary participates regularly at the Annual Review Meeting at the Suri office. Many health related activities have been taken up in an elaborate manner.


ORISSA

At Mayurbhanj district :-
Ten bank linked SHGs of women have been formed and run with the help of M/S North Orissa School of Social Works, Post Box No.20 at Baripada, Dt.Mayurbhanj.

At Dhenkanal district :-
Infrastructural support is provided to “Kailashi Mahila Samiti”, Hindol Road, Dhenkanal, in the form of financial help and deployment of manpower from time to time.
Training Programmes are regularly conducted for RCH Resource Persons at SAAS, Suri.

UTTAR PRADESH

At district Mirzapur :-
Unnayan Santhan, Tekkore near Varanasi organizes workshops at Sikanderpur, Mirzapur, Chunar on the application of Vermitechnology and eco-farming system.

Health welfare activities have been undertaken in the following 12 villages :

WEST BENGAL

1. Kolkata Branch :-
a. Dept. of Environment –
i) A Pre-Project appraisal meeting held and presided by Convenor-Director of SFR, Kolkata.
ii) Observation of World Environment day on 5th June- It was observed by the organization in participating at a Padayatra in a befitting manner.

b. Dept of Health & FW –
i) Adolescent Programme- Meeting were held at CINI CCRC on the Formulation of the SRIJAN PLAS Programme

2. District Birbhum :-
A) Suri
i) Festivals:
a. Sri Aurobindo’s birth day is regularly observed besides the national Independence Day. The birth anniversary of The Mother on 21st Feb is observed with utmost care and devotion. The cultural function is organized by “Sri Aurobindo Music College, Suri”.
b. Observation of other special days like 17th Nov., 24th Nov. and 5th Dec are organized in a befitting manner.

ii) Education :
a. Formal Education:
Formal School – A primary school operates at Mitra Bavan

Special School for the Mentally Retarded Children – This school operates five days in a week with special educators

b. Non Formal Education:
Adult Education Centres – The centre at Shalbuni is operating with 50 students with the help of teachers from the tribal community

Library at Shalbuni – This library is being developed with financial assistance from Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation and the Host Institution. The RRL has also extended a modest amount for purchase of some books and furniture.

This year M/S Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation has extended financial assistance for purchase of some Books and furniture.and constriction of a library bulding. At present 5000 books are available on the library.

RGF sponsored 15 Rural Library Project – RGF has Sponsored this project for two years and the libraries are operating smoothly. Here is the list :

Imparting Cultural and Value based Education – This education is imparted to the youth and school children by organizing Seminars/Workshops/Camps/Yoga Camps /Video Display of the great sons of India to generate ideals and morals among the students

Girls Hostel – Girls’ hostel is operated for female students coming from remote places and studying at Suri in various educational institutions

Promotion of Languages – Urdu and Sanskrit are taught regularly

Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya – The Proposal is under the consideration of the Sate Government.

Sri Aurobindo Music College
a. Music – Rabindra-Nazrul Sandhya is regularly observed along with Dance Drama.
b. Dance – A section on Bharat Natyam has recently been added.
c. Instrumental Songs.
d. Folk Song Division – Various extension programmes have been launched. Cultural programmes are duly organized at Pakriti Bhavan, Shantiniketan

Objectives of the Project-
1. Revival of the Loka Sangeet of the people of the Himaliyan and Sub-Himaliyan Region.
• By supplying the necessary instruments to poor Artists .
• By bearing cost for repair of the Instruments which are now damaged and unworthy of use.
• Similarly , the Organisation will provide Custumes / Ornaments and or repair the old ones out of the Project Fund.
• Documentation by Videography and Recording of Drama or Performances in different places and or in Studio , making CD /DVD with the attractive design of CD Inlay. In this context ist is needless to mention that the Organisation has got a well equipped Studio for sound recording in Kolkata.
• Distribution of these CD’s amongst the Artists, Villagers and Business Community.
• Bringing to the notice of Govt and non-Governmental Organisations so that the neglected Artists can get a platform to present their performances and also can interact with other Artists which will help them to improvise their skill and methodology of deliveration. The CD’s so prepared will further will act as a vehicle for distant communication of their skill .
• Th e organization will promote the neglected Artists to perform in local Fair and Festivals and bear the necessary expenses of Transport , Accommodation , food costs etc out of the Project Fund.

2.. Revival of the Dying Arts Paintings /Handicrafts particularly the languishing Arts and Crafts -
In this area of the Himalayan and Sub-Himalayan Region the implementing organization will adopt 50 cultural groups in two years time at the remote periphery of Darjeeling District . In these areas many of the Handicrafts Artisans will be available. Emphasis will be laid on the revival of the languishing Arts and crafts.
• The name , addresses and nature of the Handicrafts and their annual income will
Be plotted on Papers in consultation with the local clubs and elected civic bodies.
• The will be promoted to exhibit their products in different Arts and Crafts fair.
• Linkage will be established with the different “District Industrial Centres” run by the District Administration and Trade Promoting Organisations.
• The organization has noted that Madhubani Arts and the Printing Clothes particularly Bed Covers , linens has got a market potentiality for which improvement of the design and newer marketing channels are to be ensured by the implementing organization.
• The Trained designers will be invited at the working fields of the Artisans for the improvement of the design of the Arts. The professional fees will be met from the Project Fund.

Methodology-
• The Organisation will work in the remote areas of the Darjeeling district.
• The Project duration will be for 2 yrs.
• The area, the number of the Artists, Artisans has already been assessed.
• The local artists with their group members will be promoted to start reharshal of their prospective performances.
• They will be supplied with necessary Instruments , custumes, Tiffin cost etc from the project fund.
• The VDO documentation of their performances will be done .The Audio recording of their music will be ensured . CD’s will be prepared and will be distributed to the different Culture promoting bodies as well as will be marketed by the local Shop Keepes and Trade communities.

iii) Dept of Rural Development & Welfare of Women & Children
a. Income Generating Activities -
Animal Resource Development
The organization is carrying out various field extension programmes and Institutional Pragrammes on Dairy, Duckery, Gottery and Poultry with newer strain.

The DBT Sponsored Programme
Poultry Project is mentioned under “Science & Tech Section.

Weaving -
A Project on Handloom Weaving (NORAD) for the Training of 50 women was launched on and from ist Sept 2001 to 31st December, 2001. It was sponsored by the Dept of W& CD ,Govt of India through the WBWDU. The Project was informally inaugurated by Mr K.L. Banerjee, Jt BDO, Suri-I Block. In the present year the Project has generated a considerable number of Artisans who are weaving towels, Bed Sheets etc and these finished products are sold from the “Sri Aurobindo Sales Emporium, Suri and Sales Counter for Centres” at Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, 8, Shakespeare Sarani, Kolkata- 700 071.

Silk Reeling
In the post project era it is providing earning to 100 families.
Tasar Production Unit – Based on the guidelines of the Dept. of Sericulture, Tasar cocoons are reared, dried and later on reeled on the modified Ghosh Charkha. The pierced cocoons are however reeled through Pedal Charkha.
Irrigation – Construction of Dug Wells for irrigation and sustainable agriculture in Birbhum and Murshidabad district are sponsored by CAPART, EZ .

b. Welfare Programme for Women and Children -
Short Stay Home – The Home provides food, shelter and rehabilitatory training to women and children. These women are usually victims of moral danger or are the victims of matrimonial disharmony in their in-laws house.

Crèche Centre – Children are receiving food besides games and drawing materials. The Welfare Officer from the West Bengal State Social Welfare Advisory Board has inspected the centre. The project was financially assisted by WBSWAB. However, from 6th January 2007, The Rajiv Gandhi Crèche Mission is sponsoring the crèche.

Awareness Generation Prog for women – The 80 Women groups are formed in the different villages and they are not only resrting the various means of income, Bank Loan to the members. The are even minimizing atrocities on the villages and creating Health awareness among the villagers.

Working Women’s Hostel – Residential accommodation for 20 women service holders, particularly from the Dept. of Health and Family Welfare have stayed for a variable period of time. The Asst. Project Officer from the West Bengal State Social Welfare Advisory Board has inspected the hostel and gave necessary advices.

Anti Dowry Campaign – The dowry system has claimed innumerable lives of innocent women and destroyed the economic strength of millions of families. This can only be abolished by building awareness in the society.

Activities for Women’s Economic Empowerment – Promoting the habit of saving by village women will generate the feeling of self-esteem and self empowerment among them. In most of the rural families the women look after the daily procurement of food and cooking. They are the worst victims of poverty. Their small savings can help in dire situations. Presently we are maintaining 36 bank linked SHGs.

c.Skill Development Training –
Such training is provided to the beneficiaries living under BPL-Suri Municipality under SJSRY Scheme sponsored by the Dept. of Urban Development (SUDA), Govt. of West Bengal. Training was completed for the following Trades and most of them were rehabilitated.

d) Ministry of Science & Technology –
d.1. DBT Funded Project
i. Project “Thalassaemia & Sickle Cell Anaemia- A DBT appointed Task Force committee evaluated the progress of the Project at the Department of Bio-Technology.
ii. Launching of the Project on the improved variety of the Poultry Birds to
uplift the rural economy of the Birbhum (WB) and nearby Dumka district of
Jharkhand by DBT, Ministry of Science & Tech, Govt of WB

d.2 DST Funded Project
i. National Workshop on Vocational Training for Employment Generation-
15th to 16th December at Tiruchirapalli.- We have participated
and presented our Progress report.
ii. Reeling of Raw Silk by the improved Charkha (NEB) Programme for
30 women.
This was Project for 4 months . We have already Ghosh’s Reeling Charkhas
and we have trained another 30 persons in this trade.
iii. Propagation of Japanese Quail Broiler to uplift the economy of the tribal women at WB (SSD)-

d.3 . Science Popularization Activities
i. Workshop on “Sensitizing of the children on the activities of the VIPNET” sponsored by Vigyan Prasar” held from 9th to 10th November. Dr R.K. Bagh , Principal Scientific Officer from the Organisation presided over the workshop and the participating clubs were from Murshidabad, Bankura, S-24 Pargonas, Purulia, Birbhum and Dumka and Banka (Bihar)
ii. Installation of the “Worlds Space Satellite radio Centre at Shalbuni, Dt- Birbhum WB sponsored by M/S Vigyan Prasar for propagation of Science popularization Programme among the common masses.
iii. Participation and presentation of Research papers at Sate Science Congress – The Ninth State Congress held at Santiniketan, Visva Bharati University on and from 28th February
iv. Tenth Science Congress at Vidyasagar University, Midnapore,2003-
v. Presented paper on “Installation and evaluation of De-fluorident Filter at Nalhati Block of Birbhum.”

H.Dept of Handicrafts- The Handicrafts department is looking after the upliftment
of the skill and market support of the artisans from within and outside of this
district through its Sales Counters at Suri, Bankura, Malda, New Delhi an
participating in the different Melas like Poush Mela, Santiniketan and other places.

e) Youth Welfare Activities
a. 8th National Integration Camp- From 10th November,2003 to 16th November,2003 at Shalbuni, PO- Karidhya, Dt- Birbhum which has been attended by 156 beneficiary and various Resource Persons like Mr M.M. Pal, ADM (Birbhum), Dr Basak,CMOH, Birbhum, Mr Sahoo. AD, Consumer Affairs & prevention of Spurious practices in business.. Mr B. Ganguly, Regional CO-Ordinator, NYK & Mr Sankar Chatterjee, District CO-Ordinator, NYK Birbhum.

b. Observation of the National Youth Week and Youth Day festival.-
c. Games and Sports- Besides regular outdoor Indoor and Out door activities we
have organized three rural sports in the current year.
d. Sports Equipment- The Govt of West Bengal through its Sports & Youth services department has sanctioned a scheme for the purchase of Sports Equipments.

f) Dept. of Health & Family Welfare
a. Dept. of Modern Medicine
i) Control of Tuberculosis under RNTCP Programme (DOT Programme).
ii) Regional Workshop on Adolescent Care at Bankura – It was held at the Bankura Institute and sponsored by the CCRC, Kolkata and the organizations from Bankura, Purulia, Burdwan and Birbhum participated.
iii) Establishment of Arogyaniketan, Vill-Shalbuni, P.O. Karidhya, Dt-Birbhum – A multi disciplinary hospital licensed under Clinical establishment Act, from CMOH, Birbhum.

b. Dept of Opthalmology
b-i) Establishment of Well equipped Eye Hospital with the OT, Post Operative Ward, Female & Male Ward along with the modern diagnostic equipments like “Keratometer, Appa Scan, Tonometer, Glaucoma Diagnostic Unit, Cataract Surgery Unit etc.

b-ii) Installation of Micro-Surgery Unit - It was informally inaugurated by Mr B.K.Roy, IAS, District Magistrate, Birbhum on 28th March,2003 in presence of Dr S. Bute, ADHS( Opth), Govt of W.B, Dr P.S. Choudhury, CMOH, Birbhum and many other dignitories.
Regular IOL Camps-These camps are regularly attended by Dr Tridib Sengupta, Dr S.L.Saha & Dr S. Das, Opthalmologists of Suri Sadar Hospital, Dr Sirshendu Das, Dr Amiya Kr Banerjee and Dr Niladri Saha., Opthalmologist from Host Institution.

b-iii) Establishment of Eye Bank/EDC -
• Awareness generation Camps were held in different Clubs and Schools urging the people to pledge for Eye Donation.
• Visit of the State Accredation Committee held on 16th August, 2003 which was constituted by Dr S. Bute, ADHS (Govt of W.B), Dr S.K. Bagchi ,Susrut Eye care Centre, Kolkata, Dr Gautam Bhaduri , Director, Regional Institute of Opthalmology, Medical College, Kolkata and Dr Samar Basak, Director, Disha Eye Hospital, Barrackpore.
• Participation at the AGM of the EBAI at Disha Eye Hospital on 5th December, 2003..
• License issued to “Eye Bank” on the recommendation of the Accredation Committee.on 1st December,2003.on the approval of the Principal Secretary, Dept of Health & FW, Govt of W.B.

b-iv) Dept of Gynaecology -
1. MCH Clinics- Both Institutional & Field services are offered by the Para-Medical Staff of our Institution.
2. Well Baby Clinic- Monitoring of the Growth and Immunization coverage of the Children including, OPV, Triple and Double Antigen etc.
3. Infertility Clinic- Presently it is held once in a week and it is linked with a well equipped Laboratory.
4. Sterilization Operations – This service is provided to the Mother absolutely free of cost.

b-v) Modern Laboratory -
A well equipped Laboratory has been set up at this Hospital with its Hematology, Bio-Chemistry, Serology , Blood Bank services, Laboratory Animal and Histo-Pathology Unit.

b-vi) Promotion of the Indian System of Medicine
i. Institutional Services (Arogyaniketan)
Both Outdoor and Indoor services are available.

ii. Non –Institutional Services
1. Yogic Exercises Classes.- Organisation of regular classes for the youths at the Lecture Hall of Arogyaniketan , different Schools, etc.
2. Propagation and Promotion of the Use of Medicinal Plants.
3. Demonstration Garden.- A demonstration Garden of the Medicinal Plants has been set up for creation of the awareness generation of the Medicinal values of these plants.
4. Visit of Swami Devanandaji Maharaj, Adhyaksha , Swami Shivanandaji
Yogashram on 28th January, 2004. He was kind enough to inspect our premises andadvised us regarding future development.

g) Dept of Relief & Disaster Management -
Since the Organisation has participated in Flood relief Programme at Birbhum ( 97 & 2000), Malda ( 1998), Jagatsinghapur (Orissa) in 1999 and Bhuj ( 2000)., we felt the necessisity of more number of the trained personnels to work in these natural calamity.
The Organisation is regularly conducting Training Programme on “First-Aid
Medical services” for the youths.

h) Dept of Entrepreneurship Dev Programme -
A training Programme under PMRY was Organised in collaboration with the District Industrial center, Birbhum.After one year survey it was found that 50 % of the candidates are doing very well. They have provided additional job facility for the unemployed youths and started to Bank instalments.

The Spice Production Unit of the Organisation established at Shalbuni is providing additional employment to the Tribal women through production and packaging and marketing of Spices like Haldi, Mixed Masala, Dhania, Chilli powder.It was established with the fund support from the KVIC “Marginal Money Scheme”but it is now self supported unit.
However, the Book Binding Scheme of the women beneficiaries established from the fund support from the KVIC under its Marginal Money scheme is running with constraint.
N. Food Processing Unit- The Project has been recommended by the State Govt and is
under active consideration of Govt. of India.

i) Dept of Environment -
Like all previous years ,National Environmental Awareness Campaign (NEAC, 2009-2010) held in this year proper zeal as per programme chaliked out by “School Of Fundamental Research ( State Resource Agency), Kolkata . In this Project two water Tanks were cleaned at Shalbuni. An exhibition of Posters, News Cuttings drew a large number of people at Shabuni A Post Project evaluation of the last year meeting held at Sarat Mancha, Kolkata by M/S School of Fundamental Research-the State Resource Agency.

j) Dept of Drug De-addiction -
Observation of International Drug De-addiction day and prevention of Drug Trafficking.

k) Dept of Consumer Welfare Activities -
i. Workshop on 17th May, 2003
ii. Workshop on 19th August, 2003.
iii. Observation of 24th December (National Consumer’s day)
iv. Observation of 15th March (as World Consumer’s day)

l) Road Safety Programme -
An Awareness camp for the Pedestrians were held which was inaugurated by SP Birbhum.

m) Dept of Publication -
i. Publication of Booklets.
ii. Publication of the monthly Journals “Aurobindayan”.Registered under RNI, Govt of India. The Scientific articles are coming from the throughout the Country.

n) Dept of Petroleum Conservation -
The Extension Project of the Society at Kamardanga, Maladang and Rajarpukur are
running though no fund support was received from PCRA, ER.

The Project of Mashibathan, Dumka is however doing fairly well with the construction of the Pump House and regular demonstration before the villagers that how to save the precious Oil.

Santiniketan - Poush Mela - On each year a Handicrafts Mela is being organized from 22nd December to 27th December and we have completed 14 such Melas from 1990.to 2009.

Yoga & Naturopaty - A project funded by CCRYN New Delhi . The Organisation have both OPD and IPD facility of 10 beds for treating these ailment under the Guidance of Yogic expert . Equipments like Hip Bath Tub, Spinal Bath tub, Air Bath tub, Mudtray etc are utilisized to give Naturopathy tretment to the to the patients . Besides three out Station Camps were organized in order to popularize the Yoga and Naturopathy amongst the Students.

SRIJAN PLAS Network - This prog run at Kandua GP Suri ii Block. Youth Information Center and Youth Forums formed at the village


3. Murshidabad
i) Kandi Block
• Sanitary Mart at Kandi Block.-

• Health & family Welfare Programme- Our Kandi Branch has been selected a member in the “Block Health & FW Advisory Committee”.

• Sri Aurobindo Music College, Murshidabad Centre- This branch is existing for last 5 yrs with different divisions like Music (Sangeet) , Dance, Drama & Folk Culture division.


4. S-24 Pargona
• We have sponsored a Workshop to Dakkhin Chandipur New Life Society to Organise on “Reduction of Maternal Mortality and Morbidity .
• Given affiliation to Kamdevnagar Rabindra Smriti Sansad, Vill- Kamdevnagar, PO- Durbachati, Block- Patharpratima, Dt- S-24 Pargonas. Pin- 743 371, WB.
• We have become one of the Member of the Forum of NGO,s –the head quarter of which is Kakdwip, S-24 Pargonas.

5. Purulia
Submitted a Project proposal for “Sanitary Project” at Hura Block
before the Panchayat Samiti for their consideration.

6.Bankura
The Project supported by PCRA for the running of Brindabanpur
Demonstration Centre has been completed and a new sight for
shifting ( Fulberia) ,the DC has been submitted to the authority.
